Porcelian Veneers

Of all the methods available today for changing and improving the look of your smile, porcelain veneers are among the most popular and successful.

The process involves removing a small amount of tooth structure to make room for the veneers. The dental lab then fabricates the veneers from impressions.

Once your veneers are permanently placed, they will feel like a natural part of your teeth, and you can use them just as you would your regular teeth. However, veneers are not indestructible. To protect your veneers from chipping, avoid biting down into hard substances. Slice apples before eating them. Avoid bad habits like chewing on fingernails, pencils, or paperclips and clenching or grinding your teeth.

Main advantages of porcelain veneers over bonding include increased longevity and resistance to staining.

A Dental crowns brampton is a restoration that covers, or “caps,” a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth.

Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won’t solve the problem. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together to seal the cracks so the damage doesn’t get worse. Crowns are also used to support a large filling when there isn’t enough of the tooth remaining, attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing, restore fractured teeth, or cover badly shaped or discolored teeth.

Besides visiting your Brampton dentists and brushing twice a day, cleaning between your teeth is vital with crowns. Floss or interdental cleaners are important tools to remove plaque from the crown area where the gum meets the tooth. Plaque in that area can cause dental decay and gum disease.

Teeth Whitening Brampton: Whitening is the most common Cosmetic Dentistry procedure asked about at the dental office. A bright white smile can draw attention and create confidence. You can take several approaches to whiten your teeth.

1. In-Office Whitening If you prefer in office whitening, Dr. Sharma will suggest a procedure that can be done in our office. This procedure is called chairside whitening system. This procedure is safe, effective and fast. In just over an hour your teeth will become dramatically whiter.

2. At Home Bleaching These products contain peroxide(s), which actually bleach the tooth enamel. These products typically rely on percent carbamide peroxide as the bleaching agent. Carbamide peroxide comes in several different concentrations (10%, 16%, 22%). Peroxide-containing whiteners typically come in a gel and are placed in a mouthguard. Usage regimens vary. Some products are used for about twice a day for 2 weeks, and others are intended for overnight use for 1-2 weeks. If you obtain the bleaching solution from your dentist, he or she can make a custom-fitted mouthguard for you that will fit your teeth precisely. Currently, only dentist-dispensed home-use 10% carbamide peroxide tray-applied gels carry the CDA Seal. You also may want to speak with our dentist should any side effects become bothersome. For example, teeth can become sensitive during the period when you are using the bleaching solution. In many cases, this sensitivity is temporary and should lessen once the treatment is finished. Some people also experience soft tissue irritation-either from a tray that doesn’t fit properly or from solution that may come in contact with the tissues.

3. Whitening Toothpaste All toothpaste help remove surface stain through the action of mild abrasives. “Whitening” toothpaste have special chemical or polishing agents that provide additional stain removal effectiveness. Unlike bleaches, the products do not alter the intrinsic color of teeth.

A Dental Bridge brampton is one of the few options that you have when deciding how to deal with a missing tooth or teeth.  The replacement of these missing teeth is necessary in order to maintain the proper mouth functions. Tooth loss can affect the way you eat, speak, and the alignment of other teeth in your mouth.

A bridge, by definition, is a link or connection between two permanent structures. A dental bridge is very similar in that it attaches the restorative teeth (bridge) to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. This bridge acts as your new teeth, closing the gap and restoring your smile.

The procedure begins with preparation of the natural teeth, or abutments. We will shape the abutment teeth so that the ends of the bridge will fit comfortably on each one.  The next step is to take an impression of the area.  This impression will be sent to the lab where your new restoration will be crafted. While this new tooth is created, we will provide you with a temporary restoration. Our temporary restorations will resemble your natural teeth so that you can continue with your daily life without worrying about a missing or unattractive tooth.

During second visit to our office, we will proceed with the placement of your final restoration. This bridge will be fitted comfortably into the mouth. We will make every effort to ensure that the new bridge feels exactly like your natural teeth. The final step in the process is to cement the bridge into your mouth, leaving you with a beautifully restored smile.

Our dental office offers all aspects of oral surgery from removal of impacted wisdom teeth removal brampton to bone grafting prior to dental implant placement. All treatment is prefaced with a comprehensive and clear consultation so the patient is aware of all treatment options and consequences. Communication with the patient is the emphasis during treatment and any discomfort is dealt with immediately for a pain-free experience.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction: Wisdom teeth can become impacted, or trapped, beneath the gums; sometimes they emerge only partially. Impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth can cause problems if left untreated.Partially erupted wisdom teeth can create an opening around the tooth that allows bacteria to grow, causing infection, swelling and pain. If an infection is present, it may be necessary to drain the pus and treat the infection with antibiotics before the tooth can be removed. We recommend wisdom tooth consultations as early as 16 years of age. Early removal is advised due to rapid healing, less post-surgery discomfort and less risk of complications.

Tooth Removal: It is always unfortunate to have to lose a tooth. To make this as easy for the patient as possible, we offer a take-home package consisting of various homeopathic remedies to ensure a quick healing. A thorough debridement of infectious tissue and the tooth ligament always accompanies tooth removal for complete healing.

Gum disease (periodontitis) is a problem for over 60% of the adult population. Because it often goes unnoticed until the later stages, it has often been called a “silent epidemic” in North American culture. Some of the signs and symptoms of gum disease are red, swollen gum tissue, bleeding of the gums when you brush or floss, chronic bad breath, and loose teeth. Call Periodontist Brampton for gum disease and treatments

The cause of gum disease is a bacterial infection in the gum tissue surrounding the tooth. This infection is worsened by the presence of plaque and tartar on your teeth. When this tartar is not removed professionally by a dentist or dental hygienist, an infected pocket can form around the tooth. When this pocket deepens, the infection can spread to the fibers supporting the tooth and to the surrounding bone. Left untreated, this gum disease can lead to the formation of an abscess and the loss of one or more natural teeth.

Treatment for gum disease can be surgical or non-surgical in nature. Please call our dental office at 905.793.7277 for more information.

Endodontist brampton is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated, dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function.

Having a root canal done on a tooth is the treatment of choice to save a tooth that otherwise would die and have to be removed. Many patients believe that removing a tooth that has problems is the solution, but what is not realized is that extracting (pulling) a tooth will ultimately be more costly and cause significant problems for adjacent teeth.

Root canal treatment is highly successful and usually lasts a lifetime, although on occasion, a tooth will have to be retreated due to new infections.

Signs and symptoms for possible root canal therapy includes:

  • an abscess on the gum
  • sensitivity to hot and cold
  • severe toothache
  • swelling and/or tenderness
